Transportation to American Cemetery Omaha Beach

Our elderly friends from the USA are visiting us in the UK during August 2013, and would dearly like to visit Omaha Beach, the American Cemetery. One of them is a veteran of 3 wars, and would like to spend a little time there to pay his respects to the fallen.

They do not want to spend more than an hour or two at the cemetery due to time constraints. I have suggested taking the overnight Portsmouth - Caen ferry to get them to Normandy. Does anyone have a suggestion as to how they might complete their journey to the cemetery and then back to the ferry terminal on the same day please?? From memory there is no train, but hope that it might be possible to either pick up a local day tour or by bus. Any help / advice will be VERY much appreciated. Thanks!

If they are not prepared to drive themselves, their best bet would be to organise a driver/guide to meet them at the Ferry.

There is a list of guides in the Top Questions for Normandy.

cpmac, DE for Normandy, may be able to recommend someone appropriate...
