Try tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotels-g635672-Matlock_Bat… .

Be aware that if you decide to stay elsewhere and drive to Matlock Bath in the evening, it will be difficult to park at MB itself, so in the past the organisers have provided a Park & Ride bus service from Matlock and Cromford.

Or of course you could take the train.

The Lion Hotel in Belper is near the rail station, and there are several hotels near the Derby rail station.

We stayed at the Ashdale Guest House (tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_Review-g635672-d6223…) when we visited Matlock Bath a couple of years ago, it was a few minutes walk from the illuminations and a pleasant enough place to stay.

We drove from Sheffield on Saturday 15th October to the illuminations at Matlock Bath.

Pro's . The park and ride is excellent. The boats are OK.

Cons. The boats event should start earlier than 8pm. Many young children struggled to stay awake. The numbers attending meant that after the boats had finished the initial show the bridge over the river struggled to cope with everyone. The fish at the fish and chip takeaway in Derwent Gardens was dreadful....worst I've ever had. Had to eat in the Gardens as the queues at the chippies along the road were massive.
