Luray Caverns - days after Thanksgiving visit - cold? busy?

We are considering to visit Luray Caverns during 3 days after Thanksgiving.

I saw https://luraycaverns.com,

I know they say temperature inside caverns is the same year round,

but still would like to ask if it worth going at the end of November,

is it comfortable enough? Is it too cold?

Is it Safe to drive there if it's raining?

For Thanksgiving weekend - should we buy tickets ahead of time?

We are driving from NJ.\

Many thanks

I don't mean to be snarky, but what do you mean by "too cold"? What's your comfort zone and what's the current forecast from the likes of the Weather Channel?

Right now Friday and Saturday are forecasted to have highs in the mid-50s, lows in the mid-30s and sunny, while Sunday while be steadily in the 30s and cloudy.

I should be more clear. I m wondering if it's much colder Inside the caves at the end of November than in the middle of summer. Unfortunately, there is no weather forecast for inside the caves. May be somebody went to the cave s at the end of November and could share the experience ?

Thank you

I live in NJ, and I have been to Luray Caverns three times.

This should be a good time of the year to go.

If it’s a little chilly outside, you may actually find the 50 degree temperature underground to be welcome.

Rain travel between NJ and the Shenandoah Mts. isn’t too bad. Wintry mix would be another story.

FYI: all caves everywhere will be around 54 degrees give or take a degree. Breweries, wineries, and cheese makers store their product in caves, its guaranteed 54 degree temp control. Knowing this, I designed my home HVAC system to move air by fan thru the 54 degree crawl space to save on A/C - this is the basis of GeoThermal heating systems.

A light sweater over a tee with a windbreaker on top to cut the dampness will make it comfortable - think damp Spring day.

Enjoy!!
