Does someone know where the Quito-Papallacta bus leaves and what the schedule is?
What town bus is going and when to get off?
We just got back and took the bus from Papallacta to Quito ... 2 hours, no problems. You can ask anyone for advice; they are all helpful. We did have to stand in the middle of a road divide (rocky) and wait for a bus to come. There were others waiting...you just say "QUITO?" and they nod or not (if you can't speak Spanish). WHile there go to Don Wilson hotel and have a meal...the food is cheap, good, and the owner's daughter speaks English (she has two daughters living now outside of Philly) and is very helpful. Just don't wait for the bus outside of the hotel...it doesn't always stop there. It will stop on the main road just at the bottom of the hill in the village. You can catch a "cab" that can take you from the village to the springs....don't pay more than $3. We didn't stay in the expensive Papallacta Therme ... there are about four other places you can stay along the same road or at Don Wilson for way cheap. The place is very rural; not that much traffic; only Quitoans come on weekends. You can eat for $5 and have a complete meal with fresh trout. It's colder there and our only complaints were that the place where we stayed didn't have heat in the rooms. They had fireplaces but it got smoky.
