I'm planning a trip next spring ( 2018) and have booked a RV from AKmotorhome Inc . Is this a good company ? Thanks for any advice , suggestions and information
Since you're looking for next year, you have plenty of time. The big 2 companies for RV rental are ABC and great Alaskan Holidays. Both run very good sales (like 1/2 price) during the off season. Both are recommended here time and time again. I've used GAH myself 3 times and can easily recommend them.
Do yourself a favor, heed MM's research advice...and strongly consider cancelling and rebooking with one of the above companies.
The last thing you want is vehicle failure out in no where. Such as the guy we passed 23 years ago along the Top of the World Highway with a fifth wheeler. His transmission failed. We was very pleasant on said help was on the way. Most likely it was his own truck and fifth-wheel. We passed the tow truck on his way near Tok
and vehicle breakdowns are only a small part of the potential problems...we've heard a ton of RV woes on here. Everything from dirty RV's, not having the reserved style/size rig on hand, non-road breakdowns, meaning fridge/freezer/generator/water system failures....the list goes on. There are so many things that can go sideways with an RV rental it's no wonder the better companies only use new (or 1-2 years old, max) units. Peoples vacations depend on everything working right! Be smart...find somewhere else to shave $$ if need be, and go with a solid RV outfit.
