looking for fun shopping for upcoming trip to Seattle - any particular part of town or particular stores for great unique shopping (needs to fit into suitcase ) especially clothing and vinyls.

It depends on the neighborhood. On Capitol Hill you'll find Platinum Records Lights & Sound near Broadway & Pike Streets:

Just up the street you'll also find Zion's Gate Records at 11th & Pike.

Clothing is such a personal thing. There are many 'boutique' type clothing shops in Seattle, so you will have many options in both the downtown and Capitol Hill areas.

For records and music, I like Easy Street Records.

There's a location in lower Queen Anne and one in West Seattle. The one in West Seattle has a cafe attached to it, and is a decent spot to have some breakfast. You can also pick up some cupcakes at nearby Cupcake Royale when you're done. :)

University Ave. has both vintage shopping and record shops. Hint: Schedule a university tour... Lots of cool stuff for 17yo there.

The other area favored by my 17yo "focus group" is Lower Queen Anne on the north side of Seattle Center.

Can't remember the name but there is (was) a really large selection of old vinyl records in a shop in Pike Place Market.

You might also look at Wall of Sound (315 E Pine Street):

www.wosound.com

Right next door is a vintage clothing shop, Le Frock Ltd (317 E Pine Street):

www.lefrockonline.com

Right around the corner is Sonic Boom Records (1525 Melrose Ave):

There are a number of hip clothing shops up on Broadway, but not much in the way of vintage clothing. You might look at Trendy Wendy's (211 Broadway E), Metro Clothing Co (231 Broadway E), Panache (235 Broadway E), and a few others all located on the same block. There's an Urban Outfitters a few blocks away, and many great places for lunch and dinner nearby.

Good luck!
