Ice Skating near Snowshoe (within an hour drive)

We are going to snowshoe for our anniversary next month and I'm trying to find somewhere that we can go ice skating in the evening. We don't mind driving (within an hour), especially if it's somewhere that has other restaurants, etc. We've been to snowshoe once and didn't really see much nearby, but I thought maybe someone else would know of somewhere we could go that would have ice skating. It doesn't even have to be an indoor rink. An outside rink would be fine and may even be more romantic. ;) This is definitely something snowshoe should consider in the village square! It would be a nice addition! :D

Near Cupp Run is Corduroy Inn, which has ice skating.

You really do not want to drive off the MT after dark.

Savantiiii where do you see ice skating at Corduroy Inn? Nothing on their website.

Giorgianni, there is outdoor ice skating at the famous Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs, but it is a good 1 1/2 hour drive. Gorgeous place with lots to do there, but not sure you would want to make that trip just for skating. There is a Fire and Ice Festival in early February in Elkins, WV, just over one hour drive. Hope you will have a great time at Snowshoe anyway. Lots to do there. (just not skating, sadly)

And...they do have ice skating up at Canaan Valley Ski Resort..about 2 hours from Snowshoe. If ice skating is a major must do, then maybe change your reservations to Canaan Valley. It wouldn't be much longer of a drive from Danville.

Canaan Valley may be a very good alternative for skiing.

Skiing at Canaan Valley SP and also at Timberline; unfortunately the lift tickets are not linked this year.

Canaan Valley SP offers indoor swimming and outdoor ice skating.

If you can live without Cupp Run and like Salamander, Canaan offers the combination, which you desire, and within a very few miles.

CVSP is upscale, and newly renovated. Nearby Timberline offers rental property, including ski in/out condos.

While Après Ski ´tis better at Snowshoe, nearby Davis and Thomas provide a variety of Après Ski activities.

The Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs is world class, and is certainly worth considering.

Winterplace Ski Resort in Ghent, WV is about 1 hour and 20 minute drive for day skiing.

Driving WV roads in the winter maybe challenging. We have been skiing at both Canaan Valley and Snowshoe and have experienced anywhere from 0" - 8" of snow overnight.

Canaan/Timberline will challenge the Black Diamond Skier; however, Snowshoe is a premier Mid-Atlantic ski Resort.

When you refer to January Skiing, be aware that the MLK holiday is Crazy Busy at nearly all ski areas.

We do not ski during the holiday weekends. Lots of OOC (out of control) folks on skis.

Savantiii, as usual you did not read my posts. I already mentioned The Greenbrier as well as Canaan Valley. You also did not answer my question regarding the alleged ice skating at Corduroy Inn??

Beachy,

Often, you do provide accurate information.

While a website indicated that Corduroy Inn had an ice rink, it does not.

Now if we can somehow convince you that 48 does not run between Weston and Elkins, that would be a great step in your future information.

Somehow, it is not clear to me that you know Snowshoe; however, we do agree that The Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs is world class, and you have learned from my posts that Canaan Valley is a great ski area.
