Visiting April 6-8

Hello,

We have planned to get to berkley spring this spring break with the kids. I have noted a few things to do based on old posts. Is there anything new out there we sold to miss?

Ar there other places worth driving to within the radius of 50 miles in WV?

Thanks much.

I'd suggest driving down to PawPaw, crossing into Maryland and spending some time on the C& O canal trail.

Thank you. We are from the dc/md/va area. Any other recommendations towards the west?

Thanks...

My experience with the panhandle area of WV is minimal. About 2 hours west is Davis, WV which has great hiking and Blackwater Falls, some cool restaurants & shops, and there is Canaan Valley State Park that has hiking, Eurobungy, ski-lift turned chair lift for sight-seeing, pool, bikerentals, geocaching, climbing wall and Dolly Sods for hiking. A little farther southwest...2 hr 15 min is Seneca Rocks if you like to hike.

Hello luvdodo,

dcmsteach's sugestions are good but they are a long drive from Berkeley Springs, probably worth a trip unto themselves.

Paw Paw tunnel is worthwhile as is Cacapon State park just south of BS. They used to have an Easter buffet you might want to check out. Not DC fancy but good.

North to Hancock, Maryland and the B&O canal. If you can rent bikes there the kids would enjoy a ride.

Don't think the Berkeley Springs castle is giving tours, but if it, is take advantage.

The Country Inn is under relatively new ownership right at the springs. Don't know about the quality of the food but the setting is wonderful.

Tari's is downtown. Dark, cafe type atmosphere, maybe not the best for young kids (but fun for a Saturday night out).

Panorama has a great view.

Bring bathing suits for the kids in case it's warm enough for them to play in the spings.
