Crime in Long Beach

During a recent trip to a nicer RV park in Long Beach our bicycles were brazenly stolen while our son slept just inches away. The thieves carry bolt cutters and who knows what else? This seems like a very dangerous situation. We were told that theft was becoming a big problem in Long Beach.

Has anyone else experienced similar?

Thieves are everywhere unfortunately. Rural and resort areas certainly aren't immune and in fact may have high property crimes, as there is often higher unemployment/drug use/etc than you find in a city like Seattle.

As Christy has said there is a lot of unemployment and poverty in that area so I am not at all surprised. That said I have never heard theft mentioned in that area on the forums.
