Visiting early January with a 1 and 5 year old looking for fun things to do and good family friendly places to eat.
I really enjoyed my visit to Long Beach, and in season I can see that would be great for your young family. However, even when I was there, in November, many of the family entertainments were closed. Also, it would be awfully cold on the beach in January.
Winter is my favorite season for the ocean. I enjoy going to the Long Beach peninsula at that time of year with my sons, but they’re older now than your kids. Probably wouldn’t head that way in January with very little ones.
Being on vacation in a cold, dark, wet and windy place in the winter cannot be fun, but that is my opinion.Edited: 30 October 2017, 13:22
First, check out www.funbeach.com. Next, Jan and Feb in Long Beach is for the hardy soul. Ususally cold, rainy, windy and like said before, many places closed. The Arcade is open, though. It is a rather large one with lot's of things. About the only good thing is the prices for lodging are lower. Kids would be very bored here in the winter.
Update: We had an absolutely wonderful time camping at Cape Disappointment (just outside Long Beach, Washington) Dec 31, 2017 - Jan 2, 2018. The weather was perfect. Not one drop of rain, few clouds, lots of sun. Average day temp about 46-48 degrees. We made sandcastles, played in the surf, and hiked all the way to the jetty where we watched seals and sea lions play. Only went out one time to see the Seahawks play and grab a bite to eat, the Lost Roo. Great family restaurant. Very good food and tasty adult bevies.
Washington’s coast offers great adventures and worthy of a visit any month out of the year!Edited: 11 January 2018, 04:45
Check out Captain Bob's and Castaway's for fun places to eat. 🏖
