I'm looking for a couple easy hikes under 5 miles with beautiful scenery.
Checkout the hundreds of miles of hiking and biking trails at www.mountaintrails.org. A few of our faves:
- Rob's Trail (and associated trails in the network) located just off SR224 (highway coming into town), climbing up through wonderful stand of aspens to great vistas on north side of Canyons side of Park City Mountain resort.
- Mid-Mountain Trail from Empire Lodge/Montage back to Park City Mountain. Take free city bus up to Empire. Hike will wind along 8,500 foot contour with no really significant elevation change. Then drop down into Park City.
- Empire Pass to Jupiter Peak. A great ridge hike. Drive up to Empire Pass and hike ridgeline to Jupiter. Some vertical but not difficult at all. You can take free city bus up to Empire Lodge and climb a few hundred feet up to the ridgeline. More difficult.
Tumbleweed's list is great. If you want something really easy you could drive over Gaurdsman's Pass to Big CottonWood Canyon and walk the Silver Lake boardwalk. This would only be worth it if you are interested in the scenic drive.
