Back Country Sunset Tour Monument Valley

You're posts are helpful! We are heading to Monument Valley in late August and are trying to decide whether to take the 1pm or 4pm Back Country tour. We were thinking the lighting would be best at that time but are worried that it may be too late in the day. Ware staying at the View and should arrive back about 7 - we think that is still time to get the sunset. The tour operator was a bit vague but somewhat agreed. We are coming in from Mesa Verde and thought also that it might be a rush to make the 1pm. Thank you

Thanks for posting in the forum.

I'd choose the earlier tour. I like to be settled and stationary for at least the full hour before sunset, if not longer. If you're planning to be somewhere, just for the sunset moment, you're going to miss it. Do it the Navajo way. Forget about time and let the moments come to you.

Hm. We did a mid-day tour, because that's what worked out for us logistically, but the light was sub-optimal if you're a photographer.
