Monument valley with kids

We are planning a trip to Phoenix, Sedona, Grand Canyon and monument valley for the last week in march. What activities would you recommend for a 10 and 12 year old.

What do your kids like to do normally? Do they like to be outdoors hiking? Would they like to see some cool ruins or cliff dwellings? Sedona, GC and Monument Valley all invite outdoor activities, mostly hiking but a couple of great "tours" would be fun for the whole family. The Pink Jeep Broken Arrow tour in Sedona, and the Navajo Back Country tour in Monument Valley.

If you are driving a rental car you cannot drive the 17 mile drive there in MV...if any thing happens it negates your contract and all expenses are on you. We have seen people crying next to their rental car axle deep in sugar sand.

it makes it more fun sometimes for both you and the kids to look up a list of movies made in Monument Valley, watch them and then be able to recognize what you have seen in the movies when you get there.

At Monument Valley a native guided back country tour is as interesting and informative for kids as it is for adults.

At Grand Canyon National Park look into the Ranger programs. They vary and are posted daily.

Sedona has loads of trails for walks and hikes. Great places to teach trail safety and etiquette.
