View Hotel in Monument Valley

Would you recommend a stay in one of their premium cabins or in the hotel itself for the best views?

There's a reason why the hotel rooms are priced higher.

- All the hotel rooms have a patio or balcony with an unobstructed view. Some of the cabin views are partially obstructed.

- With the hotel, they made an effort to design an architecturally pleasing look that blends into and compliments the surroundings. By contrast, I thought the cabins looked like the trailer villages that sprang up at school when they ran out of permanent classroom space.

Go with the hotel. And this is from someone who ordinarily much prefers cabins to main hotels (as an example, we loved Lake Yellowstone Cabins-not the hotel). Yet after one night in the hotel (lucky for us, the cabins were unavailable that night) we were so glad we'd stayed in the hotel.

We are photographers and both places are nice. One caveat...the balconies have side walls for privacy and a roof over the patio area. That means that you will be a little limited in the scope of the views...the side walls are a little like blinders on a horse...great for a right-in-front view but not so much for panoramas or sky photography. I finally walked out to the public platform by the gift shop and restaurant for the vast and unrestricted photo views. I was trying to lean out over the safety rail to get the full photo and decided that that was just foolish and dangerous. If you want starry sky photos you need to get away from the ambient light of the hotels.
