Is Benalmadena expensive?

Hi,

Is it expensive to eat out? What is the average price for a meal/pint of local lager?

Also, is there an Aldi/Lidl type supermarket? We are going self catering and will only be eating out at night, with breakfast and lunch in the apartment.

Again, thanks for your input :)

Benalmadena covers every price range you can eat a set menu for around 8 euro , a daily pub special for 5 euro or you can push the boat out and eat at some lovely resaurants with fresh seafood and fantastic cuts of meat for around 100 euro for 2

There are Lidl & Aldi supermarkets, and also Maxi Dia which is a similar type of place. If you give some idea of where you're staying, we can give directions to your nearest one. Local lager is about 2€ a pint, but, again, depending where you're staying, can be cheaper or more expensive.

I think Benal is very reasonably priced for eating out but what obviously puts your costs up is paying for the five of you but there are quite a few places in the bonanza square area doing 3 courses for about 11e for adults including a house wine.these include Eduardos and El Cordero. Woodies is very reasonable and there is some chinese with very cheap prices.Benal has obviously a more expensive side as well for a evenings splash out. There is a Lidl just near the sign that says Benalmadena over the road at the marina end.

benalmadena very much a family resort, it is possibly more expensive if you seek British run outlets. spain is really suffering financial problems, prices in Spainish places are either falling or holding as locals will not pay more. Possibly more and cheaper options in Arroyo.

Where you stop you will be able to search out great offers, it is a buyers market, certainly when we were last out 1 euro a pint a common offer.

For cheap gifts Spain now has the 2 euro shop, for handbags, watches, jewelry etc.

sorry I meant the three course meals for yourselves and the kiddies menu for the youngsters as I think buying courses separately will possibly come out dearer in the long run.

I think Benalmadena is no different to any other resort in that there are a variety of places to eat and drink from one end of the price spectrum to the other. We are in a similar position to you (2 adults ,4 kids) and we also go self catering with a meal out every evening.

As far as the drinks go there are plenty of bars offering a pint for 2 euros at various times of the day.in many of the restaurants the kids get a drink with the set menu.

Eduardo's is a nice restaurant with good food. As stated the set menu is really good value and includes a drink. We also had a couple of chinese meals and this is probably the best value as you get a lot for what you pay. There is a Chinese restaurant just a short walk down the hill from Eduardo's and we found this to be the nicest food. There is also a restaurant next to legends in Bonanza square (forgot the name) that does a good set menu . Also if you just want a snack try Bitto's in Bonanza square. I had a few meals here and the food was alright.

Along the promenade there are loads of steak/fish restaurants. If there are 5 of you then you will probably find these a bit expensive (we did). We tend to splash out on one of our nights and go to one of these but it would normally cost us in the region of 80/100 euros. They are very keen to get you in so there is room to bargain for a free drink or something but be prepared to be given the hard sell especially on the first 200 yards at the opposite end to the Marina. There are also some places that are less expensive on the prom ,one we go to a lot is called Palm 5 where they have a lot of nice bar snacks and San Miguel at either 1.5 or 2 euro a pint. There is a bar by here called The Potter that also is family friendly and good value. The owners in both of these bars are really friendly as well.

The Marina is great to walk around but you will find the food and drinks here in the main a lot more expensive than anywhere else and when you times it by 5 (or 6 in our case) then it makes sense not to have too many meals here.

Hope this helps.

It's also worth adding that if you try some of the Spanish owned eateries you will find your money will usually go further, you'll get good service and the place will be spotless.

Agree with the Chinese in Bonanza Square, the best ribs i've had over here in 6 years :) It's the one on the corner diagonally opposite Buttos (my friend works there Paul so will let him know you said the food was alright lol)

Other than that, yup, can only echo others opinions in that you can find places to suit all tastes and budget.
