DFW int'l arrival security Global Entry line domes transfer?

Hi all,

I want to know for those with Global Entry if there is a Global Entry TSA Pre-check lane for those coming in on international flights and then transferring to a domestic flight? I will be flying into Terminal D I think. On arrival all int'l passengers transferring to a domestic flight have to go through security again.

Also where is the security line? After Customs clearance?

Where is the baggage transfer desk? Just after customs clearance?

Also, just a quick question about Global Entry in general, how does the TSA know that you are a global entry member? If I stand in the line and they check my ticket but cannot determine what happens? I will not have the card. I have added the number to American Airlines for Known passenger number, but for some reason when I log in it doesn't work. Is that because I did not activate the card yet?

Thanks

No Global Entry Pre-check lane,

There is a Pre-check lane at terminal D.

The security lanes are upstairs after you leave customs.

Baggage transfer is after customs

Entering the known traveler number with AA will print pre-check on your boarding pass.

Wesh, thank you. I did find that security starts again after you exit customs and give your bag back. Every airport is different. I assume that the Precheck lane is just out the doors of customs headed for the skytrain right? Once I exit which direction should I go? I would like to walk down a little bit to the next security checkpoint to avoid the huge lines in the first one from all the passengers leaving customs. Which way should I turn?

I am hoping that the Known traveler number will be printed on all my boarding passes. I can see it registered in the AA system now. What happens if it is not printed on the ticket?

After re-dropping your bags outside Customs, take the nearby escalator or elevator up one flight. The TSA Checkpoint is right there. The Pre-Check line may or may not be open, depending on staffing, time of day, etc.

There are two other checkpoints in Terminal D: one at each end of the Terminal. So turn and walk either direction. Maps can be found at www.dfwairport..com

There is only one Pre-check lane in each terminal at DFW. So if you want to go thru the Pre-check security lane you will have to use the one by the escalators outside of Customs.

If per-check not on the boarding pass, you will need your card to use the lane.

Terminal D has two TSA Pre-√ locations. One at the center ("D22") checkpoint and one at the checkpoint near D30 (https://www.dfwairport.com/security/index.php). We have also had TSA Pre-√ at A12 even though it is not listed as such. But, again, sometimes they are not open: "Operational hours vary". Use the map to figure out which way to turn if you want to go to the D30 location (or follow the signs).

Not knowing then that there were a limited number of pre-check lanes at DFW, about two years ago I happened upon a checkpoint that was virtually empty, and when I handed them my pass and ID, a call went out..”We have a pre-check here” which was passed loudly back through the checkpoint.... I was then escorted through alone while they held up the rest of the passengers..... rather embarrassing. Hadn’t realized DFW had specific pre-check places.

Thanks for the information guys. The fact that you say it is D30 should be more than enough information for me to find it. Thank you! I will see how long the lines are first outside of customs and if too long I will walk the couple of minutes to D30.

I had no idea that there was a limited number of pre-check locations, that is VERY interesting. I am wondering if other airports are the same then and also if there is a list of the pre check stations at every airport published somewhere?

No idea why they would call out the pre check so loud, I don't think there was any need for that. But curious if you were treated any better than everywhere else? My experience with TSA officers has not been positive, I find a lot of them to be overly rude and inconsiderate. But that is another topic.

yes, a whole different topic, but my worst experiences anywhere have been in DFW, no problem at all at Love Field. They seemed annoyed that I was in that line, but not one of them said - "Oh BTW, there is a pre-check lane over at.______....."

Hmmm, so DFW doesn't tell you there is a pre-check line, that's just great, and with long lines you'd have to cut to the front to find out, and if not then walk back, good luck getting around everyone in the line to find out either.. Ridiculous.

DFW DOES tell you if there is a Pre-check line: https://www.dfwairport.com/security/index.php They just don't promise that it will be open when you are there (this is DHS staffing decisions, not airport). If there is no Pre-check, you go through with everybody else. FCS' experience was probably in the early days...In our experience, no one will treat you differently just because you have TSA Pre-Check. We always pack our carry-on as if there will NOT be Pre-Check so as to not hold up the line (liquids ziplock bag on top; laptops easily accessible, etc).

We've found in some places that the Pre-Check line can be longer/slower than the regular, in which case we go through the regular. Taking off our shoes is not a big deal.
