Walking from Graiguenamanagh

We were interested in doing a walk from Graiguenamangh to Inistioge and back in a day, or vice versa. We are beginner hikers and looking for a pleasant walk for a day. Is this doable? Stopping for lunch and a walk around whichever town is best to spend some time in?

Do you have a sample of the route? I’m very familiar with the walk down the Barrow to St Mullins, but Inistioge is on a different river, so it’s not the river walk.

It is part of the South Leinster Way. I looked at a map provided by the National Trails Office /Irish Sports Council.

It would seem a pity not to keep it simple and stick to the Barrow River for your walk.

The stretch down to St Mullins with lunch at the Mullachain Café is a lovely hike or you could head in the opposite direction and take in a visit to Borris House, if open. For a linear walk and a taxi back, there is the option of walking to Bagenalstown (or even Leighlinbridge), again along the riverbank all the way.
