Wentworth and walking

We are staying at the Wentworth for five nights in October. Is it within walking distance of Charleston historic/downtown areas? Or will be we need a cab? We have a car but probably won't risk the parking headache.

It is walkable, but a bit of a long walk. Safe area to walk thru. It is just over a half mile to the "heart" of the historic district 12-15 min walk. Can be further, depending on where you are going. If calling a cab ~ be aware that you must call for one and it might arrive in 10 minutes, 20, 45 or sometimes never. They are not always reliable. They also do not drive around looking for fares, as they do in some larger cities. The Wentworth may have better access to cabs if they call directly.

The onsite restaurant (Circa 1886 is excellent, make reservations well in advance) the spa is also very good. Locals go to both regularly.
