Mid-week 3-day trip April 13-16

Recommendations would be greatly appreciated for a quick trip to Charleston. First timers - couple in mid-50s. We would like to take a short sailing tour, see some museums, Fort Sumter, walk around the HD and perhaps take a walking tour. Have been reading lots of posts in this forum and have several restaurants in mind, but any thoughts you have on where we should eat or what we should do would be appreciated. We will have our car and are open to all ideas. Mid-priced hotel (under $200/night) - lots of seafood - great weather...how do I get this combo?

Here's your source for a sailing tour...

Walking tour would be Ed Grimball...

Hotels under $200, try Mills House, Best Western King Charles, Hampton Inn HD don't know what the prices on the new Marriott on Calhoun St. are, but you could look there (I can't guarantee that any of these will be under $200 on your specific dates, the spring home and garden tours will be going on then).

Look in the above right at the top questions, you'll find lots of info on restaurants, activities, etc. to give you specifics on restaurants, we'd need to know what you like to eat and how much you want to spend. You'll find great seafood at all the restaurants that we suggest regularly.

Sorry, but I don't know that any of us have any real connections to Mother Nature to promise you great weather, but spring is usually a wonderful time in the Charleston area.

The weather is changeable (sometimes several times within a single day); but, the gardens will be in bloom and the sun will be strong. Bring layers. Wear comfortable walking shoes. Use sunscreen. Post specific questions as they occur to you.

I second the BW King Charles Inn. It's a great hotel in a good location.

Best Western King Charles Inn @ 237 Meeting Street, Charleston, SC 843 - 723 - 7451.

Go to Amen Street Seafood Restaurant for good seafood. Pearlz is also a good seafood restaurant. High Cotton, McCrady's and Magnolia's are fun places to dine. Good luck.
