Female traveling alone

Where would be a good area for a solo female traveling to Charleston to stay? Any must see places and any areas to avoid for safety for a solo female? Thinking of staying at harborview inn or french quarter inn.

Either HI or FQI will be fine for a lone female. They are both in the heart of the Historic District, stick w/the HD itself (you'll easily be able to tell), here's a map that delineates the area fairly well...

Look in the above right, to find things to do, read through them, then come back and ask us questions about things that interest you. Do plan on a carriage ride to start your visit off.

I agree-take the carriage ride first. Walk around the HD and enjoy the homes and gardens. Shop on King Street.

If you can tell us a little more about what you like we can help you with specific recs.

French Quarter Inn is outstanding. Have dinner at their outstanding restaurant Tristan. Go to Amen Street Seafood Restaurant for good seafood. Husk, McCrady's and High Cotton are also a lot of fun. Charleston restaurants are very solo dining friendly. Eat at the Bar at McCrady's. Go to the rooftop bar at Vendue Inn. Jestine's has a great Sunday Brunch.
