Can anyone tell me how you pronounce Calne please?
Nearest I can get is Kawlnah, but you need to speak (or rather listen) to a native of Wultsher, as I have heard it pronounced several ways.
I always say 'Calne in Wiltshire' to distinguish it from Colne in Lancs.
It's more Kawn than Karn. As I say, listen to a native.
You pronounce it just as it is written.
A chap I know who comes from Witlshire pronouces it CARL-NE. So, as it's written, really.

Calne = kôn
The ô is as in or ( ôr) and for (f ôr)
So, as you can see, pronounce it how you like.
I was once at a comedy gig in Calne where the funniest bit was different members of the audience telling the compere how to pronounce it. About 15 minutes of uproar and argument, basically.
