swimming - cape trib

I know this might be a silly question but is safe to swim from the beach at cape trib and newell beach? I'm thinking of crocodiles! We want to stay on a campsite (will prob hire a campervan) but none of them up there seem to have pools (unless anyone knows any different?). We'll be there in August. Thanks.

Lots of people swim at Cape Trib beach, how safe is it, well, best to ask the locals up there and see if they've had any sightings of crocs, when you're up there. Some places are better swimming areas than others, remembering that there is coral right on the beach in SOME areas, which doesn't make it great swimming.

Crocodylus resort Cape Trib, offers a pool for their guests, as does PK's Jungle village, this one also has camping grounds.

Newell Beach, should be OK, but again check with the local general store for advice.

No stingers in August, so no worries there.

Do keep in mind August is winter. I was there this past August and there weren't many people swimming. Some days it was warm enough to wear shorts, other were quite chilly and rain.

There is a very slight chance of crocodiles - usually in November during mating season, and also around the mouth of the rivers - do not swim near mangroves at the mouth of the rivers.

Locals swim on Myall Beach near the break in the reef, close to the Dubuji access path.

There are four swimming pools at cape trib and you could swim in them even if you are not staying at the accommodation house.

The best swimming is upstream in the rivers - the swimming hole near Masons Shop, the swimming hole in emmagen creek - both far enough inland to be non crocodile environments.
