Cape trib...no car....active....local ideas ?

We will be spending about 9 days at the Cape Trib bed and breakfast....( Fruit Farm owned by Digby and Alison ) No A/c,, no hair dryers, TV, no car, and that sounds great. They have complimentary bikes, and we have our feet. Plus the rainforest, and the beach.

Before cape trib, we will be skippering a 34 ft sail around the Whitsunday Islands, and then 3 days on Spirit of Freedom ( dive boat ) on the great barrier reef.

Taking a van or bus up to Cape Trib from Cairns.

We like hiking, biking, kayaking, snorkeling, diving, exploring, and most every thing nature oriented, and talking story with new friends and acquaintences. Don't need five stars, just clean , friendly, and fun seems to work super for our needs.

There are some great posts on this board, and I have noted lots of activities, and they all sound superb. Won't be bored ! Thanks to you all.

However, was wondering about non-guided hikes, and activities as well. Hikes that we can walk, or bike to, from Cape Trib. Neat beaches, places to explore, and also what to watch out for. Good local knowledge.

We live on Kauai Island, Hawaii, and share great places for visitors to see and embrace the beauty of the garden island. We also know places that are dangerous and pass that scoop on to folks who are interested.

As far as Cape Trib, We have also done pre trip digging into information, and are pretty well prepared for the sailing, and the dive trip, and some on cape trib....which sounds like a fantastic and wonderful work of nature. But, this is new terrority for us, so any and all local knowledge would be great !

Any ideas that might help us would be appreciated.

Thanks, ahead of time !

Many walks are heavily tourist oriented so short boardwalk in style. Hikers have better access in the southern wet tropics however I have included a link for you that you can explore. What you end up doing may depend on how far you can cycle. I have seen cyclists on the bloomfield track but very hilly.

The Daintree portion of the wet tropics is very much surrounded by private property. So you may wish to reconsider and take at least one guided tour , if only to access the higher rated rainforest areas.

Cooper Creek maybe of interest.

There is not much else to do apart from perhaps an evening cocktail at the Dragonfly Cafe.

Thank you, will check out that website......we do respect private property, and will not intrude on anyones posted or private land.

Good idea on going on some of the guided tours and gain some ideas that way......

We really are looking forward to exploring cape trib, and daintree, and definitely will stop at the Dragonfly, and raise a Bundy or 4 X, or Toueys New to you. Or what ever they have.....we are pretty easy.

Thanks Again
