I will be traveling to North Dakota for a mission trip, flying into Bismarck. I have never visited the state. What can I see and do in a few days?
Bismarck is a wonderful community to visit. My parents live there, so I've been there several times. Besides being the state capitol and having the Heritage Center (going through some extensive interactive renovations, but partially open for visitation already this Spring), you'll find Fort Lincoln, part of the Lewis and Clark Trail, Dakota Zoo, state parks, and American Indian historic sites, just to name a few. The Bismarck/Mandan CVB would have lots more information about that particular metropolitan area http://discoverbismarckmandan.com/
Within a two hour drive from Bismarck heading west, you'll find Theodore Roosevelt National Park at Medora. This is a beautiful area and has lots to see and do too. Along that route, you'll find Salem Sue, the Dickinson Dinosaur Museum and the Enchanted Highway.
If you head east, within a two hour drive as well you'll find the only true albino bison in the world at Jamestown, a beautiful scenic byway at Valley City.
If you haven't requested information from North Dakota Tourism, I would suggest it. You'll find more info at http://www.ndtourism.com/
