Public parking?

Hi, I am driving to Outer Banks tomorrow and plan to go to the beaches around Nags Head or Kitty Hawk. Where are the public parking lots with good access to the beaches and how much should i expect to pay? Thank you.

PAY? Ha Ha. There are no pay to park lots anywhere near here. No parking meters either.

Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills and Nags Head have many public parking areas that are oceanfront, so you only need to walk 50-100 yards to the ocean. Just get on the beach road and you will see them. Most allow 10-20 cars.

There is a parking lot with a bath house in Kitty Hawk at Byrd Street. If you don't have a particular place to go, try heading farther south to Nags Head. There are lots of accesses with parking, and two with a bath house: Bonnett Street and Jennette's Pier. As mentioned above, there is no charge to use the parking lot or restrooms.

The Kitty Hawk bath house and parking lot is south of the Black Pelican and south of Kitty Hawk Rd. Byrd St has a parking lot and porta-poddy but no bath house. Kill Devil Hills bath house is at the traffic light at Ocean Bay and Nags Head has one across from the Galaxy Golf.

Thank you so much. Coming from Virginia Beach where every lot is a pay lot, this is a great change of pace!
