We are first timers to this area of nc. We will be splitting our week between myrtle and either wrightsville or carolina beaches. We are both early 50's... any help would be appreciated
Depends on what you're looking for in a beach. Carolina Beach has a little boardwalk. Some folks say Wrightsville is a little nicer, but no reason you couldn't go to both if you'll be in the area.
My family has a place in Carolina Beach and I find it has a more laid back vibe. We always go to Wrightsville Beach to eat, walk on the beach and I've docked a boat at the marina but I've never stayed there. There was a thread on here that had some good feedback on the comparison. I had someone tell me once that it takes a million dollars to just get a garage in Wrightsville Beach (meaning that the area is more expensive/fancy). It all depends on what your personal preferences. You can't go wrong either way! .
If you're looking for a laid-back, old-fashioned beach experience then CB is the place to go. Great beach, a variety of restaurant choices, friendly people and no need to dress up. If you're looking for a bit fancier experience then WB is your choice.
