New York to Toms River

I live in Australia and am flying into New York in April. I need to travel from Manhattan to Toms River. Can anyone suggest some of the best ways of transport? I don't particularly want to hire a car - would prefer train or bus option. Many thanks

319 expresses from NY to Toms River. Also look at changing your flight to one of the 3 NJ airports. All 3 are about 50 miles give or take from Toms River

Bus is your best bet. No train to Toms River. http://www.olympic-limo.com/reservations.html

They do Newark to Toms River- shared ride shuttle. Don't know if they will do the NY airports.

I'm originally from the region, so I can probably help :)

The BEST way is by bus. Go to Port Authority and talk to people at the terminal to make sure where you're going is on the route. Port Authority is HUGE and very confusing, so if you're not used to it you're probably going to have trouble. The EASIEST way is probably by NJ Transit Train from Penn Station to Belmar, Metro Park, or Trenton. From there you can find/call a taxi service to take you to your final destination. Hope this helps. It's not exactly very easy getting from the city to the suburbs, I would know.

If taking the train, as suggested above then take it to the last stop which is Bay Head and get a taxi from there.

But, bus is better.
