NJ transit train to NY penn station.
Linden has an NJ Transit train station and it looks like they have 3 city run lots, I can't imagine you'd have trouble parking there on a weekend www.njtransit.com/rg/rg_servlet.srv…
If for some reason that doesn't work out you can also drive to Secaucus Junction, right off the NJ Turnpike, and park there (lots of parking but pricey) and take any NJ Transit train into NYC (about a 10 minute trip) http://www.parkfast.com/secaucus-parking
If you think you might be coming back really late and don't want to rely on train schedules you can drive pretty easily (About $20 in tolls all together + 25-40 to park), let us know if you want to do that and we can advise
Parking in Linden on a weekend should be no issue at all.
But, if it is, as already noted you could drive North to Secaucus Junction (approx. 30 minutes). Or South 10-15 minutes to Metropark in Iselin/Woodbridge. The parking facility there is one of the largest in the state.Edited: 07 September 2016, 13:50
On car... was gonna rent one if needed we were thinking of shutteling to train and was making sure that was the smartest thing to do. Thank you for the response!
Thank you! Sounds cheaper and easier to just shuttle over to train station and not worry about a car.
