Total Rewards Visa Card

Do any of you have the Total Rewards Visa card? If so, is it true that you can use it and earn tier credits? If this is true, you should be able to just buy your way into Platinum, Diamond or 7 Star status, without even gambling, right?

Just checking if this is something worthwhile.

Thanks!

You earn Reward Credits (credits you can spend)

From their web site

Earn 3 Bonus Reward Credits for every $1 spent on qualifying on-property purchases through March, 2012 and 2 Bonus Reward Credits for every $1 spent on Total Rewards Marketplace

goldenlover is correct. Rewards Credits and Tier Credits are two different things. You can only accrue Tier Credits to determine your status in the Total Rewards hierarchy from gambling.

That's what I thought too, but then I read this article. There is a paragraph right before "Expert Total Rewards Tips" that makes it sound like you can get tier credits by using the TR credit card.

I think I'm confused now.

We have one and Blagger and goldenlover gave you the straight scoop. It's great for points to use of dining or other purchases but it does nothing for your players club status.

I guess the article must be wrong then. Thanks for your help.

I've had a total rewards visa for 6 years. I put about $1200/month on the card and pay it off every month. I am a small time player at the casinos. I get the monthly mailer from CET. They always offer me free rooms, two for one shows, buffets, etc. Just the standard room, but free. I get these free rooms because of the visa, not my play. I also get $12/month comp dollars. They never expire because I use the visa all the time.

The visa card does nothing for your tier ranking. I've been gold for the 6 years.

I'll be coming to LV for Super bowl weekend, 4 nights comp thanks to my visa.

Thanks TahoeJoe. Very good information. The article state the following...

There is an easy workaround to these rules, however, and it actually makes earning the Diamond or the Seven Stars level rewards much easier. Customers can also acquire a Total Rewards Visa and link it to their personal account; it earns 1 loyalty/tier point for each dollar spent and it ensures that loyalty points will never expire. Those that are financially able often just “purchase” their entry into Seven Stars since it includes free suites for the life of the member (with 48 hours notice).

I'm assuming this paragraph must be wrong in the article I read.

I was just there and asked at the Total Reward desk and was told that the credit cart does in fact up you tier score. Now I'm not sure I was given the correct info based on what people are saying.

I'm going to contact them and see what's what.

If that's true it's a different card than I have. I've had this card for over 10 years and use it for all my monthly expenses and pay it off at the end of the month. I get tons of points but I have never seen an offer related to my tier points. I am interested in what you find out too bonsmom. If there has been a change I am interested in how it works to link up with your tier score.

Your Reward Credit balance will remain active as long as one (1) Reward Credit is earned, either through gaming activity, entertainment spend or use of the credit card at least once every six (6) calendar months. The six-month period begins on the date on which the most recent Reward Credit from any source posts to your Total Rewards Account. Reward Credits earned through the purchases made with the credit card will not be added to your Tier Score.
