Encore, Encore, Encore!! My TR Mar 6-8

We got back on Monday from our 2 night trip to the Encore. Thanks everyone for your answers to all my questions last week. BTW - yes there was stemware, yes I could carry my own bags and no - you can't hear club noise from the 59th floor at Encore LOL -- funny the kinds of the kinds of things we worry about before a trip :-)

Will post as a reply.

Well since I bugged everyone here quite a bit in the last week or so asking lots of questions to get ready for my first stay at Mr. Wynn’s place, I wanted to write and let everyone know how it went, and I really could stop right here – it was wonderful!! Anybody surprised??

My DD - who will be K from now on - and I made a fairly last minute trip because I had an invitation for 2 comped nights arrive in my mailbox about 2 weeks ago. I had only been there once for a show so I was surprised and jumped right on it!! My DH couldn’t go so of course I left him in the dust and took one of my daughters instead. We drove into Vegas from Az at about 2:00 pm. The lines at check-in were long so we parked our bags with the bellman and went off to play (and yes I did carry my own bags from my Kia, Diceman ;) We began at the Red Card desk so that K could get her card and play for our brunch buffets, which she was able to get to in about an hour playing SATC at max bet. For anyone who doesn’t know, new Red Card players get 2 free buffets after they accrue 150 points. K won $250.00 on a dress bonus, got to 150 points and we went off to collect her 2 free buffets. Good start!

The complimentary buffets did not include Champagne, so I added that on at $10.00 pp and of course we had to get our money’s worth – made sure we got at least 3 glasses! We finished at the buffet and headed for check-in and were thrilled to remember that we were invited guests – so no line at all! I asked about a higher floor with a strip view and was offered 59th floor for $20.00 per night, which I accepted. I had been concerned about noise from the club so wanted to stay up high and we did not hear a thing. Somehow the charges never showed up on my bill nor did the resort fee BTW. About the room – let me just say that everything that has been said is true – it was beautiful with a great bathroom.

We went up to the room to freshen up and wait for our bags (actually we ran around screaming and checking it all out ;) and then we headed over to Fashion Show Mall for some retail bonding. After the mall we went back over to the Wynn and played a bit. On WOZ, Glenda came to visit and left 4 wilds –only about $70.00 but how fun!!! We played our way back to the Encore and hit the Lobby Bar for some late night munchies – they have a nice small plates tower that offered a choice of 3 apps; we had the truffeled risotto balls, bacon and potatoes croquettes and Moroccan chicken purses with mango chutney and then also barbequed short rib sliders with fois gras butter. I had a white Cosmo and K had some sort of ginger concoction. It was a bit pricey – about $60.00, but a really nice mid-night snack. The Lobby Bar is very convenient to the resort tower so a good place to kick back before bed time.

The next day we were up way too early so we got ready and went back to the buffet. Although we talked about going to Terrace Point for breakfast, K really loved the chicken-apple sausages and you can’t beat the selection at the buffet – nothing like dessert for breakfast, I always say. We spent the rest of the day wandering down the strip and back up. I had not been in TI for an age and did not have a players card so signed up and got our $10.00 free play. They also had a mini slot tournament for new players where your points for 2 mins play went onto a list and the 3 top players got free play at the end of the day. I did well - ranked 3rd, but I never went back to check if I had actually won. We went into almost every casino and of course my 25 year old DD loved the Cosmo and wondered when we would be staying there – I may have a new traveling companion LOL

That evening we got all dolled up and went to dine at Sinatra before we went to see Sinatra Dance with Me (sense a theme?) Our meal was wonderful – they have a pre-show 3 course dinner for $69. from 5:30-6:30. I had the beet salad, angliotti and then tiramisu with a glass of prosecco. K had the meatballs with polenta fries, osso bucco and panna cotta with a wild cocktail of gin, sage and absinthe. All very, very good and worth the price of around $180.00 with tip IMO. My angliotti was the best pasta I have ever had. I read in some reviews that the portions were too small, but I have to disagree- for this meal I would take quality over quantity and how refreshing to see realistically-sized portions here in Supersized America.

We had about 5 minutes to make the show so we sprinted over to the Wynn and just made it before the doors closed. We were in row K, orchestra, upgraded from the back of the house because we were hotel guests. The tix were $69.00 ea and the show was just magic, at least to this kid that had been raised on Sinatra. Someone has done a great job of using his vocals and the band was terrific, but of course the highlight was the dance. The show was conceived and choreographed by Twyla Tharp and each of the dancers was just amazing. We enjoyed it very much and I always love walking out of the Wynn theatres under the butterflies – it was all just so nice.

More gambling followed and even though we did not win very big, K is calling it the night of the bonuses  WOZ, SATC, Goldfish, Mermaids – bonuses everywhere!! We also had bonus cocktails – bellinis, cosmos and chocolate martinis – yum!!

It was a very quick trip but very, very nice – probably made more special by the company of one of my favorite people (no – not Steve Wynn - my daughter!!) We had a gorgeous room - comped - in a lovely hotel, ate and drank very well and we came home with most of our money and that is a “Wynn” in my book! (Sorry - I just had to ;-)

Don't you just love this place now? =)

Ok, I have to ask... if I read correctly, you went to the Red Card desk first, then to the buffet.... were you hauling your luggage in tow this whole time???

And do you have pics of the food?

Can't say enough about the Wynn/Core. It's the best of all. Glad your a convert. One problem, I have never received anything in regards to free nights and have given them a ton of play. Steve hates me.LOL He hates alot of people. Sinatra is that good, gotta go. Nice TR. Thanks.

Thanks to everybody for your comments -

Low - sorry to be kinda confusing -- one thing I was surprised with is that there were no bellmen pouncing on us for our luggage when we pulled up so we carried our own, but when we saw the line, there was this marvelously convienently positioned bell-man waiting for our bags when we needed him!

JupiterJoe and Bluehen - I am certainly a convert and a Wynn "cultist," ;-) but who knows if I will ever get to stay there again as CET takes pretty good care of us. I'm pretty sure that my play will not even get me a thank-you from them Mr. Wynn LOL.

cabcow - we were in a Panoramic Resort King (I think the higher floors are Panoramic?) Gorgeous room and view too.

laketime, I'm so glad you posted your report. It sounds like it was a lovely fun trip with your daughter.

I had to chuckle when you said you left your husband in the dust!
