It is scenic, and a major non-interstate road by local standards.
You can stop for a swim at the Spa Motel in White Sulphur's natural springs.
US Route 89 north of White Sulphur Springs is a national scenic byway called King's Hill. It is a beautiful drive through a national forest. For more details, check the Road Trip Guides on the US Route 89 Appreciation Society website at http://us89society.org.
Cool website! I think I've traveled the whole length without realizing it.
I think that is one of my most favorite drives. Very scenic, easy mountains and great towns. The spa at White sulphur springs was recently renovated and is very nice. Definitely a must drive highway.
I'm glad to hear it got renovated. I hope its not TOO fancy! It was pretty folksy before.
They added another pool and a new portion to the hotel that opens right into the pool area. Still the same feels with some nice modern touches!
That drive through the Little Belts is beautiful- such a lush ecosystem.
We camped in a primitive forest campground along there.
