First timers

Hi everyone. My family and I will be camping at Mill Creek on August 25th through August 28th. We want to enjoy the lakes and scenery as well as exploring the island and visiting lighthouses. We would also like to visit the UP. My children are 7 and 16. Is there anything you would recommend for us to add to our to-do list? Someone told me there was a glass bottom boat tour to see shipwrecks, does anyone know where this is? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

PS suggestions on dining would be great too. We've never had pasties. We like trying new food experiences.

www.munising.org/attractions/tours/ this is the town and link for the tours. Www.thegreatwaters.com has info for the region you are interested in. Plenty to see and do. A lovely region.

The glass boat tours are at Munising & Alpena.

Shepler's have a great Lighthouse tours out of Mackinaw City. One is the 26th. Book early as seating is limited, plus you get to board in the order tickets were sold. There are also two lighthouses in town which are open to the public and a museum in the 290' Coast Guard Cutter.

I assume you already know about Tahquamenon Falls and the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum.

Mackinaw Pastie & Cookie does a good job on pasties. I recommend getting them without the gravy.

Darrow's Family restaurant is good for fresh fish, salads, soup, pie, onion rings and breakfasts. There can be lines.

Scalawags Whitefish & Chips is a great place for whitefish or perch. The sides are OK.

The Keyhole Bar & Grill has good burgers, fish and onion rings.

Levering Cafe is about 10 miles south of town on US31. Good home cooking and very reasonable.

Love the Keyhole. Pizza Palace is very good for pizza. Not a fan of Nona Lisa's restaurant.

Legs Inn in cross Village is unique, Polish food. The service can be slow sometimes but it's very interesting and outside has a beautiful view of Lake Michigan.

It's on the tunnel of tree drive down to Harbor Springs, so you can eat lunch and then do some shopping in Harbor Springs, walk around on the state docks and look at boats, take a drive East on Beach Drive and look at some of the quaint little cottages.
