Any Hotel or Restaurant Suggestions Near Greenfield Village?

We're looking at a trip to Greenfield Village next week, and would appreciate any suggestions for restaurants and a hotel. (We're considering the Hyatt Regency, although it doesn't seem to have wi-fi, which my husband needs for his tablet.) And is this a safe area? Unfortunately, when you read about places being 'close to Detroit', it can give a bad connotation (I'm from Cleveland, so I understand about ban connotations!)

Try the Dearborn Inn by Marriott. Right across from Greenfield Village. A beautiful hotel and very safe area. Lots of nice restaurants in Downtown Dearborn. I like Big Fish.

I second Cooperspeople suggestion. There is nothing wrong with the Hyatt or the location but some of their basic rooms are a little small. The bigger rooms are nice.

If you're up for some ethnic flair. I highly recommend the Middle Eastern cuisine served by La Pita http://www.lapitadearborn.com/ which is located in the outskirts of Downtown Dearborn. I dine there with my wife at least once a month, and in my experience is the best place to get a good sampling of the delicious food of the Middle East!

If you are up for pizza, try Buddy's pizza. Super family friendly and the pizza is Best in Detroit. It's a full service restaurant with lots of seating. Great menu with lots of variety and is a fun place to eat after a day at Greenfield Village or the Henry Ford museum.

Just came back from a road trip to the Detroit area, including downtown Detroit as well as the Dearborn Greenfield Village area. Saw your post, and just had to comment on it. I really enjoyed my trip to the area, never felt threatened and was pleasantly surprised by the whole experience. People asked me, how was Detroit, and when I say, I loved it, they really look surprised. I'm sure there are nasty neighborhoods I did not see, but around the areas I was in, it was not bad at all.

We really loved Eagle Tavern inside Greenfield Village. So much so, that I'd consider having a heavy lunch and then just do a quick, light dinner later on.

Here's a TR I did earlier this summer, a good portion is on HFM/GV including our lunch at Eagle Tavern...I was really impressed!

Same thing with me. We went to two games at Comerica park. Then dinner in Greektown and a day at Henry ford museum . We had no problems at all and walked all around downtown. We are planning another trip there in the spring . Just beware of where you are headed to .
