There's no trains near Lenox. Pittsfield station is 7 or 8 miles away, but to get there from Manhattan would take multiple modes of transportation.

The Greyhound Bus goes from NYC to Lenox, maybe other bus lines as well. Amtrak goes to Hudson NY which is 45 miles away.

Will you have someone picking you up? Amtrak runs from NYC to Pittsfield which is a few miles away. http://tickets.amtrak.com/itd/amtrak

You really need a car to get around the Berkshires if you intend to vacation here. Public transportation is at a bare minimum.

Amtrak runs to Pittsfield from Boston, not from New York

Cambridge..., thanks for the correction. I was checking their site and found NY-Pittsfield. I did not realize until your reply that their transfers turned out to be in absurd locations if you are trying to go direct.
