is there a place that rents bikes in dennisport?
Also, any thoughts on the accomodations at The Soundings condos?
The Soundings is right on the beach. If you locate there try to get a water view room. Walk down the street to the Beach Bar on the lawn at Three Seasons, walk into the lounge at The Ocean House (closed Mondays) and wait for a table to get apps and drinks or even full meal, Try the classic New England seafood house across the street from you The Ebb Tide with their cute merchandise in their gift shop and much more....must mention Sundae School ice cream.
Before we had our own bikes we rented at Barbara's Bike Shop since it is right on the Cape Cod Rail Trail at Rt 134 in South Dennis. If you want to rent and then travel with your bikes then Barbara can also rent you a bike rack for your car. Maybe someone knows of a bike rental closer to your hotel.
thanks capecodcharlie. can u tell me if the soundings are both a hotel and condos? ive tried to contact them, but it ends up going to a Clarion Hotel guest service? also, from this location, will we be able to walk to the majority of the close local fare and shops? this will be our first trip to the Cape.
508-394-6561 may be their local number. This is one of several properties that were purchased, renovated and sold as time shares in Dennis Port. Since they are time shares you are able to rent any rooms that they have available as I don't think they must all go to the exchanges. IF you are looking for a conventional motel in the same area then contact Corsair & Crossrip, Three Seasons and Colony Beach.
Being right ON the beach is what a summer vacation is all about IMHO and these properties are indeed on the beach and with pools as well. While you can indeed walk to a few places to dine including at least one, maybe two with music and two cute gift shops (the second being between Wee Packet and Sundae School) I don't want you to think Dennis Port is crowded with shops on the beach. Restaurants that you can walk to are Ocean House, Oyster Co., Beach Bar, Wee Packet, Wooden Shoe, Royal Pizza, the breakfast Cafe at Three Seasons, Ebb Tide, Sundae School. Don't know if you want to walk into town but there are Etsy's, The Red Nun, Buckies, Annie's, and I may be missing a few there. A one minute drive down Lower County Rd is Chapin's Beach House, The Dog House, The Sand Dollar, Anchor and Cleat and another minute gets you to Woolfies and Swan River Restaurant.
Dennis Port itself is a fun, casual beach town but it can also serve you as a great mid-Cape jumping off point for visiting other Cape towns if you want to do so.
thank you so much for all of your advice. we are looking forward to a nice, relaxing trip. you're input is greatly appreciated!
Glad to help. Have a wonderful vacation. The Cape is a unique place to visit in the US.
