Aside from the Esplanade 1812 Overture concert?

As much as we love the July 4th Esplanade concert (I love to hear the church bells ringing all over the Back Bay and Beacon Hill!!!), we might watch it on TV. So, I wanted to ask what is not overly hard to get to and not overly totally packed for a fun afternoon or evening on the 4th of July in metro Boston. I know Boston as I lived there and we will visit on the 4th.

Thank you!

Harborfest will be "on" at that time, with the tall ships. No crowds? Not likely.

In the morning The Declaration of Independence is read from the old state house. In the years I've gone it wasn't crowded and was one of the better things on the 4th I've done.

There's a morning Parade in Natick.

Several communities have fireworks that night or on July 3rd.

Thank you. Somehow I missed the Tall Ships news and I do subscribe to the Boston Globe on-line. Will check it out. Am interested.

Excellent! I saw Queen Elizabeth (on TV) doing that once. She came to the U.S. for the 200th anniversary, I believe it was. I'd like to go to that. Thanks.

Right - I would imagine a lot of fireworks everywhere!
