I am going on a road trip from Wisconsin to Atlanta and want to spend a night in Louisville. Could you please give me your advice to the top things to do there in about a 24 hour time span. I have never visited the city before. Thanks!!

I will be there on April 9 and 10.

So far I have seen that I should do the Louisville Slugger Museum and The Derby Museum. I was just seeing if there is anything else that is a MUST do/see. I am also looking for some of their best restaurants to try. Thanks for your help!

We love Lilly's on Bardstown Rd. for something special. If you like funky, then you will like Lynn's Paradise Cafe off Baxter, I believe. Off ST. Matthews is the only coal-fired pizza in the country--Coals'. It is anthracite- (clean coal) fired and amazing! We also like several of the restaurants on Bardstown Rd, such as the BBC Brewing Company.

Also, if you are downtown near the Slugger Museum, you may want to visit the Frazier International History Museum and the glass factory.

If you have time, drive to Shelbyville (about 20 minutes from Louisville on I-64) and dine at Science Hill:

There are some lovely antique shops in the historic downtown area, and if your interest goes in this direction, this would be a very "Kentucky" way to spend an afternoon.

Lunch or breakfast at Wagner's Pharmacy (across the street from Churchill Downs) could be combined with your visit to The Derby Museum

Louisville has so many great local dining spots, it's hard to give only a few options. ....Here are some of my picks:

Jack Fry's (Vintage, intimate)

The Blind Pig

Captain's Quarters (for the scenic drive out River Road & the deck if the weather is nice)

The Sunday Brunch buffet at The Oakroom in The Seelbach Hotel

Ghyslain on Market St.

The Irish Rover on Frankfort Ave. (best fish & chips and a pint)

Cumberland Brewery on Bardstown Road (to sample local brews & great pub grub)
