We are visiting Boise for the first time in June. Are there any national parks not too far away that you would recommend visiting while out there? Thanks.
How long do you have?? How far, is not too far??
If you are open to more than designated national parks, you must visit the Sawtooth National Forest. It is breathtaking and feels like an entirely different place than Boise.
Yes, the Sawtooth national recreation is the best. Great hikes, lakes it's hit it all. Google Stanley idaho and redfish lake .
We are going for a week to 10 days. Too far is over 6 hours.
Oh, a great trip would be to drive from Boise to Stanley on highway 21, spend the night There (google it...one of my favorite places on Earth) stop at Redfish Lake and Sun Valley area. The history there alone is fabulous. Then it is a 1 hour drive from Stanley to SV and another 2.25 to Boise. Or just drive to SV and spend the night. Those areas are not to be missed...google is your friend.
I second Charley's recommendation. Photo ops at every turn and not as crowded as national parks.
Great recommendations! You could probably see most of them in 7-10 days. Would love to hear about your trip.
