Hello All!

Where is a good place to stay to be able to fish and enjoy St. Pete Beach? Any suggestions?

If you don't want to go out on a boat excursion, there are not alot of places in SPB where you can fish off the dock, and there is no 'pier' that goes out into the Gulf (like in Clearwater) The only places I can think off hand is at the northern end of SPB at the end of Corey Ave. (around 74th St) and the dock at Pass-a-Grille, which is about 2 mi south of SPB. Otherwise, you are fishing from the beach. Depending on where you stay, Corey Ave could be somewhat walkable, but you will need to take the 10 min. ride on the trolley bus to Passe-a-Grille. Take a look at it on Google maps. As far as accomodation, as the previous poster has noted, there is something available at all price points, from family large resorts to small mom & pop motels. That being said, there are two local fishing charters that offer a 1/2 day fishing in the Gulf for around $50-$60 per person, everything included.

We are looking for a nice pool and would like a kitchen to prepare some meals in.

We also like casual biking and walking.

The fishing is for my son. It is his priority. Budget will depend on what we see. TUIA

Is Pass-a-Grille a touristy area? Much to do?

Do you have the name of the charter you are referencing?

Pass-a-Grille is quiet, old Florida. A few shops, restaurants, bars, etc., but not overly 'touristy'. The beach does get a bit busy on weekends.

Is Clearwater very, very busy? My reason for staying at st.petecwas that it would be a bit "tamer" but now that you say there aren't many pier areas to fish in SPB, I may reconsider.

Try this place. It's on 68th street. You easily can walk to the beach (50 yards), shops/restaurants (50 yards). You can also walk to the small park at 74th Street (Corey Ave) and fish off the dock.

Clearwater is a popular destination and often quite crowded, as it is an easier drive from Tampa. Its a popular spot for the younger crowd. Traffic is sometimes a real mess.
