Just returned from our first time in the area, stayed at St. Joe Beach, in a house across from the beach. The beach area was full of washed up seaweed, and the drop off of the sand down to the water was steep. But we nonetheless enjoyed sitting on the beach and also getting in the water, which was calm and shallow for a good way out. Had two pretty days, rained at night. It was raining when we checked out today. Had a few issues with the house, air conditioner was not really cooling, and things could have been cleaner. But all in all we had a good time because we went to relax and get away from the daily grind, and we did! Ate at the Fish House for breakfast and then also for dinner, the Sunset Coastal Grill for dinner, and Toucan's for dinner. Why we went to Toucan's is because the younger crowd voted for it, even though I told them the reviews on the place. We attempted to eat at Dockside Cafe twice, and both times they were closed. The time changed from Central to Eastern when you got to Port St. Joe, which we were unaware of at first. Ate in for lunch and also breakfast a couple of times. We also rode down to Cape San Blas, and to the state park. Went to a couple of shops downtown in Port St. Joe, and also the shops along the highway. We regrettably did not get to see the sunset on the beach, as we were at dinner both nights. We tried to go early enough last night to return and see it, but it was not to be. This was just a short trip to check out the area, and we may return but stay in Mexico Beach next time. The beaches looked prettier there.
