Hotel on the beach/Best way to get to Cocoa Beach from Disne

Are any of the Cocoa Beach hotels actually on the beach? We are going to be staying 2 nights before a cruise and we would like to stay on the beach if possible.

I will be coming from a conference at Disney. What's the best way to get to Cocoa Beach? Is there a shuttle? Uber? We don't want to rent a car for 2 days if we don't have to.

There are shuttles, try the Orlando forum for more info there. Most hotels but not all will have free shuttle to the port from the hotel but not from ORlando. There are a handful of hotels on the ocean, others can give you more info on that. The one we usually stay at is an older property and only has a handful of rooms facing the ocean. They have a great pool but the rooms really need more improvement even tho they have recently done a remodel. The price can be right tho. As for getting around Cocoa Beach you will have to use the Space Coast transit bus or Uber. The bus does not run late in the evening. However the are good restaurants at Port Canaveral right on the water that you might like, maybe catch the bus up and Uber back if its late. If you want to see other things such as Merritt Island Wildlife preserve, Cocoa Village, airboat rides, etc you will need a car or by the time you spend 2 days traveling around you will have spent more than a rental car would cost.

The Cocoa Beach Shuttle will also provide transportation to and from the airport, assuming your conference hotel van can get you up that far. There are hotels right on the beach, although you will always want to confirm the view from your specific room if that's important to you. Some oceanfront hotels include Hilton Cocoa Beach Ocdnafront, Resort on Cocoa Beach, International Palms, Double tree by Hilton, Hampton Inn Cocoa Beach, La Quinta Inn & Suites Oceanfront. Enjoy your stay in Cocoa Beach. You're choosing a great place to visit.mEmory!

There are no direct shuttles from WDW to Cocoa Beach, and a regular taxi fare would be over $200. However, there are are taxis and shuttles from Disney to Orlando MCO airport, and Orlando’s public bus system, LINX, operates buses between the two points. Once at the airport, there are dozens of shuttle services that can take you to the port near Cocoa Beach, and many will take you right to your Cocoa Beach hotel. The shuttle services usually charge about $25-35 per person, plus tip.

When you consider the costs of the above, a rental car for just one day may be competitively priced, especially for 2-3 people. The drive fro. WDW is an hour from the main gate to CB, and it’s expressway almost all the way. There would be a few dollars in tolls.

There are a number of hotels right on the beach (look at an online map or do a search of this forum, as your question is a common one). As mentioned, you should distinguish between hotels on the beach and particular rooms with a good view of the beach. Many hotels have a few rooms with direct ocean views, but most rooms with side or parking lot views. It’s best to inquire about the view if that’s important to you.

I agree. If you can drive an hour on a divided highway, the car will be by far the best option. Stay right to pay cash for the tolls on the 417 and 528. The 528 ends at A1A in Cape Canaveral. It doesn't get any easier.

Thanks everyone! I am now thinking I will rent a car by Disney and just drive to Cocoa Beach. Definitely seems like the best option.

Cocoa beach is not a walkable town, you will want a car rather then spending money on Uber or waiting on shuttles or the bus. Car rental makes the most sense.

The tourist area in Cocoa Beach stretches for 5-6 miles, so it is not practical to walk everywhere. The port and “Restaurant Row” is at the north end, and downtown Cocoa Beach is near the south end of the strip that runs along the ocean and highway A1A.

However, it is easy to walk parts of that larger area along the road or along the beach. There are concentrations of businesses around the Cocoa Beach Pier (about 5400 north), near the intersection of A1A and State Road 520 (about 4200 north), and in downtown Cocoa Beach (about 0 north). Even in between those areas, there are shops, restaurants, and hotels, mostly along A1A and the beach. — just more spread out. Look at an online map to get an idea of the geography.

If you do have a need to travel a longer distance, there is a number 4 bus that travels all along the tourist strip, but it doesn’t run all night. There is a number 9 bus that runs east-west along the commercial area back to Cocoa Village and the mainland. There are taxi and Uber services readily available as well.

If you do want a rental car to travel around or go even farther afield, such as to visit Kennedy Space Center (25 minutes north),or airboat rides into the wetlands to see alligators (west of Cocoa off SR 520),then they are available from local offices of Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National, and Payless. It may be possible to find discounted rental rates on websites like Priceline and Hotwire. Most businesses have abundant free parking, with the exception of fee lots and meters around the aforementioned busy areas.

I would rent a car and that way you can see other attractions like the Kennedy Space Center and head down to the Brevard Zoo in Melbourne.

Happy New Year.
