Couch surfing!!

Hi there

I'm a student from NZ, wanting to ski in Vail for a week this January! I'm finding it very hard to get accommodation within a student budget!! Can anyone help me out with some accommodation? And does couch surfing exist in Vail?

Thanks,

Lucy :)

Couch surfing definitely exists in Vail, some people spend the entire winter doing it. I'm not sure if anything is registered on www.couchsurfing.org since much of the winter population is transient. http://rockies.craigslist.org/ may have a better chance of you finding something, you can post an ad in the housing forum.

While not ideal for skiing Vail there are 2 hostels that I know of in the area, one in Breck and one in Glenwood Springs which you could take the bus to Aspen from.

Isn't there a web site (couch surfing) to find out availability at different locations? We wouldn't be able to give you any specific info on this site. Maybe an Eagle county local can suggest some cheaper accommodation.

dawgg, people make their couches or spare room available for travelers. A cheap alternative to staying in hostels. Also you get a locals perspective.

Our Italian Exchange daughter couchsurfed, (is that a word,)

through Central America with good results. Friends just hosted a cool couple from France for a week.

The Roost is the cheapest place I know of in Vail.

I have gotten rooms during high season for 99.00 at visitvailvalley.com/vailonsale/…

though you'd need to wait to get that rate.
