Any experience to share regarding Les Canalous? We are planning a one week itinerary, likely from the Carcassone base to Capestang and return in mid September 2018.

Canals is, confusingly for non French speakers, the name of a small village and it's not in the area you plan to be. This isn't a forum for 'canal boats' as it would be in English.
Suggest you post in the Carcassonne forum.
