Is the Mountain House base area usually open the first week in April? That is where I prefer to stay and ski out of(looking at Cinnamon Ridge) but if it is not open I may look in to River Run. We have always skied Keystone in December. This will be our first time in April. Are the conditions usually good this time of year?

Hi skiatl. Yes Mountain House base is open till the end of the season. At least it has been the past years.... That is where they have the closing day events, (pond skimming). Typically April is fantastic. The past few years has seen April with better conditions than in December.

If it is a warm sunny day you owe it to yourself to spend some time Beachin at the Basin. Or LaBonte's works too!

You probably know this but Cinnamon Ridge is across the river. There are closer condos but I do like the views from there.

Thank you for the reply. Cinnamon Ridge is a bit of a walk but there is a condo available that fits our needs. If needed I think there may be a shuttle stop kind of behind Snake River Saloon that we could take to River Run. I cannot remember for sure. I do plan to go to ABasin one day and I believe the Swan Mountain Flyer is still running. I am not to sure if we will go to Breckenridge. I might catch some heat for this but I have never been a big fan, summer or winter. Too many people. It may be different in April though ? Thanks again

The only time I ski Breck is closing weekend. Like you I find it too crowded.

I saw that closing date is April 10. Does keystone ever stay open past closing date if conditions allow? If so, what dates have they been open the last few years? Do A Basin and Brecks stay open later?

emptynester44 Keystone rarely extends the season. Vail and Breck have been known too. Keep an eye on the resorts Facebook pages as time nears. A-Basin will stay open though Memorial day. Perhaps longer.

For history google closing dates by the year

Thanks Alli! I browsed pics on the Facebook pages for earliest opening dates but it took a ton of time to find the posts on each page. I was hoping there was an easier way.

Another quick question about keystone after closing date. Will the shuttles and summit stage be running after that date?

Is keystone at 100% operation (off the ski hill...non-weather related...restaurants, services, etc) until closing day? We were at a ski resort for closing weekend once, and all the services were limited, products out of supply, etc. everything was "sorry, it's closing weekend"...we must've heard it a hundred times...became a bit of a joke. Just want to avoid that scenario.

deadheadcouple, well restaurants may have a limited menu. I have seen them run out of beer, gasp, at La Bontes in the past. Usually the mountain is fully open and lots going on at the Mountain House Base.
