Hotel Help!

Hi! My boyfriend and I are traveling straight to San Diego in two weeks.. we are staying at La Valencia for 4 nights.

But we wanted to check out LA for a day or two while we are there.. I was told to stay in Santa Monica either at Shutters or their sister property Casa Del Mar..

Now money isn't too big of an issue but I don't know if I can justify the price per night!

Can someone please tell me

1. If Santa Monica is the right town to stay

2. Do you know if Shutters is worth it

3. Please give me your suggestions of other amazing hotels

Thank you all so so much in advance :)

Just for some background.. we are both 30 and love a good view BUT we are from NY and we see beach views quite a lot (obviously not the same.. but the view would need to be pretty amazing!)

Shutters is an incredible hotel, one of the best in the world - however, not all rooms have views. Take a look at Loews Santa Monica or the JW Marriot's Merigot which are lower in price, but have great ocean view rooms and are great hotels.

View rooms at The Huntley are very nice.

If you're visiting over Labor Day weekend, availability may be low in Santa Monica because you've waited too late to book.
