Hi, are there any Avocado and Persimmon UPick Farms in Bay Area?
I am not aware. Avacados are selling for $2 a piece, and I think most of it comes from Mexico? Persimmons is not a really popular crop except for the Asian community.
I don't know of any either. Avocados are grown commercially in southern CA. I don't know of any commercial avocado growers in the Bay Area. The climate is more suited for them in southern CA. Most of ours that we buy in stores do come from Mexico though - mostly because we don't have the capacity here to feed the demand. And for persimmons - we always get them from friends who have a tree or two in their yards, but like avocados, I don't know of any commercial growers around here.
Thank you everyone.
We love persimmon (and no its not just an Asian fruit).
For pick your own the one I know of is in Gilroy is Andy's Orchard for pick your own.
Ramona/Julian area is known for their avocadoes.
I didnt know that Andy's had persimmons! How cool. We usually go there for the cherries and stone fruits.
Thank you so much @mini!
