Balboa and other Newport attractions

Staying in Garden Grove Hyatt for 6 nights to take in 2 days at Disney. We have two young kids under two. My question is what else can we get up to? Have been looking at Balbos trip? Would this be worthwhile and enjoyable. What other sights are there around the area of Newport. Maybe we could take in Huntington Beach and there seems to be a Market there on Tues nights?

Any help or suggestions appreciated. BTW arriving next Monday aug 1

The Balboa Fun Zone and maybe a ferry ride over to Balboa Island would be fun.

I would also consider Knott's Berry Farm. There is a cool little zoo in Santa Ana at Prentice Park.

There are also lots of Farmer's Markets in Orange County, if that was what you meant by a "market" in Huntington Beach.

You might consider Wild Rivers in Irvine or Soak City at Knott's.

Laguna Beach is a lot of fun and has several festivals that go on.

Along the harbor in Balboa's Fun Zone area there may be pelicans to watch. There are nice little harbor cruises.

Within the Knott's Resort on the outisde of the park is a free area called Knott's Marketplace and Independence Hall. Near Independence Hall is a duck pond as well as chickens. You little one should enjoy that spot.

I presume you will have a car...

There are two great Kids Museums in the area, Discovery Science Center and Bowers Kidseum.

Adventure City is a Amusement Park near Knott's designed for young kids.

Here is a great link that talks about a lot of offerings in the Garden Grove area, and elsewhere in Orange County.

Huntington Beach hosts "Surf City Nights" every Tuesday. The first three blocks of Main Street are blocked off for an old fashioned street fair. Lots of fun for the whole family. surfcityusa.com/california-vacation-ideas/…

Went to Huntington Beach last Friday, and they had a small flea market open.
