Natural areas, lagoons

We'll be staying with relatives in Fallbrook in November and planning day trips to the coast & San Diego. I've heard about San Elijo & Batiquitos Lagoons. Can anyone recommend lagoons or any other natural areas with an eye toward conditions in November? Especially those that focus on the native plants or habitat restoration. Thank you!

Here are some great websites to help you research.

I'd keep La Jolla Tide Pools in your radar, here is a good site for SD tide pools in general.

Also look into this.A list of trails from the coast to the mountains.

There are trails where Scott mentioned at San Elijo.

There is a nice trail from the Del Mar Horsepark to Dog Beach. Part of the SDRP system, which is undergoing habitat restoration.

A nice hike inland is Mount Woodson and Potato Chip Rock.

Also Black Mountain, east of the Del Mar Track, is an open space park with some nice trails.

Also look at Torrey Pines Reserve.
