Travelling Feb 19, 2017

We are suppose to leave on Feb. 19 from Idyllwild for a stay at Cambria Pines Lodge starting Feb. 20, 2017 through Feb. 22, 2017. Our friends in Cambria have warned us that we should cancel the trip due to the storms this weekend and into Wednesday. Can anyone comment on the roads going up. We were told we should stay at the Cliffs for one night enroute but they are full. Any other suggestions if we go??

Your best bet is to get onto the CalTrans website

http://www.dot.ca.gov/cgi-bin/roads.cgi

That will give you current information on road conditions on the highways you choose to go north on. Yesterday L.A. freeways were a mess, Highway 101 was closed northbound due to a potential slide near Ventura (on the coast route north) - lots of flooding, downed trees, accidents. So it depends on how risk tolerant you are, and flexible if you find you need to stop somewhere and go no further.

Sunday looks fine but Mon Tues Wed , more rain. And La Conchita south of Santa Barbara could start sliding any minute. Your friends are right, unless you have extra days to spare if you get stranded up in Cambria and they're willing to let you stay longer, I would cancel.
