Santa Barbara area

Can anybody recommend a town around Santa Barbara with a decent hotel that doesn't cost a small fortune? Our budget is max €150 per night

We are visiting for 2 nights from the 31st of August to the 2nd of September, we are 2 adults and we have a car.

I have booked an hotel in Santa Barbara, the Orange Tree Inn, but the reviews are mixed and I am thinking of looking somewhere else.

Thanks for an honest answer

We really enjoyed their sister property, The Lemon Tree Inn last March. 🍋🍋🍋🍋

It helps if you post your budget in US dollars, as we don't know the exchange rate. I would stay in Santa Barbara if staying two nights, not just passing through.

Have you looked at the original location #1 of Motel 6, across from the beach off Cabrillo? This one gets good reviews and you can walk to the beach.

Good luck!

VALEEPAT, welcome to the forums.

The Orange Tree Inn is fine.

But you can also look at the Marina Beach Motel, Days Inn, Franciscan Inn, Castillo Inn, Motel 6 and Avania Inn.

You might be running into the start of Labor Day weekend (US holiday first weekend of September) when rates are much higher and some places in Santa Barbara will be asking for 2 night stays or more.

Motel 6 is a good suggestion if you cannot adjust your budget upward or your dates, otherwise look at Carpenteria.

Orange Tree is the only place under $150 that Friday. 12 minutes south in Carpinteria the Motel 6 South is available, it is similar to Etap/Ibis/Travelodge in Europe with small but clean basic rooms. There is more for you to do in Santa Barbara for sure...if you want to save $50 per night you could stay in Carpinteria but driving into Santa Barbara you'll have a mess of traffic all day on Friday.

I have a booking at the Orange Tree Inn, I am a bit nervous about a few reviews... has any of you stayed there?
